Anak-anak…. mari kita belajar menyanyi…. Ya, lagu di atas memang
identik dengan pelajaran menyanyi di TK atau SD. Tapi bukan berarti orang
dewasa nggak cocok nyanyi lagu ini lho! Malah, dalam sejarahnya, lagu ini
dibawain oleh orang dewasa.
Bicara tentang lagu ini nggak bisa dilepaskan dari film The Sound of
Music dengan aktris Julie Andrew sebagai tokoh utamanya. Dalam film itu, Julie
berperan sebagai Maria, seorang biarawati yang bertugas mengasuh anak-anak
seorang kapten Angkatan Laut. Sebagai anak-anak perwira, wajar kalau mereka
dididik ala militer oleh sang ayah. Tapi saat bertemu Maria, keadaan berubah
360 derajat. Dengan sabar, Maria menemani anak-anak itu bermain dan belajar
menyanyi. Maria mengajarkannya dengan mengajak anak-anak menghafalkan notasi. Lagu
“Do Re Mi” pun menjadi soundtrack utama film yang meraih Oscar pada tahun 1965
ini. Dilengkapi dengan perkataan Maria, membuat suasana lagu ini lebih “hidup”,
ibarat guru yang sedang mengajari murid-muridnya menyanyi.
Lirik maupun irama lagu ciptaan Richard Rodgers dan Oscar Hammerstein ini
memang sangat sederhana, sehingga mudah dinyanyikan. Notasi antar kalimat juga
berurutan, tidak terlalu ribet perpindahannya. Pas buat anak-anak yang sedang
belajar menyanyi atau main alat musik.

Tidak sekedar mengenal notasi, dalam lagu ini anak-anak juga diajak
memaknai kata lain, yang bunyinya hampir sama dengan not. Seperti “doe”
(plesetan dari “do”) yang adalah sebutan untuk rusa betina, “ray” (plesetan
dari “re”) yang artinya pancaran sinar matahari, “me” (plesetan dari “mi”) yang
merupakan sebutan untuk diri sendiri, dan seterusnya. Inilah yang dimaksud
“when you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything”, saat kamu memahami not untuk dinyanyikan, kamu bisa nyanyikan hal lain.
Yuk, nyanyi lagi…. do re mi fa sol la si do… sol do !
